ABOUT PROJECT
Partnerships for cooperation and exchanges of practices
In the dynamic landscape of modern universities, our mission is clear: to revolutionize the educational experience by championing equity and inclusive education. We understand that creating a safe, nurturing learning environment is non-negotiable. This involves celebrating the vibrant diversity of our student body, redefining the role of educators as mentors, and shattering hidden barriers to communication.
The scope of our project aligns with the imperative of enhancing emotional intelligence competencies as a means to mitigate discrimination and bolster psychological safety within the academic community. A comprehensive needs analysis, conducted collaboratively by all project partners, has revealed a significant crisis related to the emotional well-being of students. However, we're not addressing emotional intelligence alone. We’re tackling the whole gamut of associated issues – discrimination, declining academic performance, and the tricky task of managing emotions and stress. Ultimately, our project strives to promote equity within European universities.
We're not just talking the talk, we're walking the walk. By equipping our academic community with effective tools to manage negative emotions, particularly those driving exclusionary behaviors, our project is set to reinforce anti-discrimination efforts at the university level. When students and staff alike gain heightened emotional awareness, the result is a richer tapestry of understanding and acceptance of diversity.
Who are we targeting? Everyone! From students to academic teachers, trainers, mentors, psychologists, advisers, and the dedicated university authorities and managers championing equality and anti-discrimination policies. Our approach is holistic, offering a series of trainings, captivating workshops, and summer schools for the target groups.
The general objective of the project is to improve students’ emotional intelligence to tackle discrimination and ensure equal opportunities at European universities. We are working on three key priorities:
- Developing emotional intelligence across the academic community, preventing issues from escalating.
- Establishing a system for recognizing emotional intelligence and antidiscrimination competencies through micro-credentials.
- Preventing discrimination, leveraging the diverse perspectives and experiences of the project's partners.
Our international consortium of universities from across various European countries is a valuable asset, allowing us to draw from diverse experiences and solutions and approach problems from multiple angles. This ensures that our outcomes are comprehensive and universally applicable.
And here's the exciting part: the partners are coming together to develop the EQUNI game, along with a mobile application, and an online tool for granting micro-credential. As if that's not enough, we're also providing a guide for universities to implement these game-changing best practices.
Get ready for a brighter, more inclusive future at European universities!
